TOKYO SNAKE CENTER

Welcome back!

Just a couple of weeks ago I had the idea to bring back the Japan Vlogs I started when I moved to Tokyo. And just a few days later I managed to find the cutest sequel to the series: A very special pet cafe located in the heart of the Shibuya district, just between the colorful streets of what is known as Harajuku and the high-class shopping district Omotesando.

Known by the name of "Tokyo Snake Center", the crowdfunded cafe opened its doors in 2015 and so far had more than 7.000 happy visitors.

FACE TO FACE WITH SERPENTS

For an admission fee of 1.000YEN which includesonedrinkyou are already welcome to Tokyo Snake Center, where you can get face-to-face with a chosen snake in a glass box that will accompany you during your visit, placed on your table.

The menue - available in Japanese and English - contains a variety of drinks and small snacks like cakes, ice cream and snake-shaped cookies.

The staff at Snake Center are welcoming and even speak a little English, so foreign visitors can feel just as welcome as the Tokyo natives.

Visitors can be relieved to know that all snakes at the cafe are non-venomous pet snakes like corn snakes, rat snakes, king snakes and pythons.

CUDDLY NOODLES

For an additional fee of ~500YEN you get to be even closer to the snakes at the cafe: Hold them, take pictures and videos!

Of course I couldn't say no to that, who doesn't want to try out such a unique experience or even tackle their fears of snakes?!

Luckily I wasn't too scared, being a huge fan of serpents prior to the visit, thanks to various YouTube channels that helped me understand the cuddly noodles and how to care for them.

There was really nothing to be afraid of - though I wish my husband would have gotten the note on that one.

On my first visit the corn snake I got to hold was calm but still up for an adventure up my jacket sleeve. The second time round I got to visit the cafe in the evening for feeding time. The corn snake I held the second time was so calm that it actually fell asleep on my lap while I was taking pictures.

PET SNAKES &  PET HOTEL

Apart from being a pet cafe Tokyo Snake Center also provides the service of a snake pet hotel for when you go on vacation and the average pet hotels might not take your request on keeping your slithering friend in for a week. And if you are considering getting a pet snake of your own, you are in luck!
Snake Center is breeding their own snakes and also sells them. You can also get a glimpse on baby snakes at the cafe, which are exceptionally cute to look at!

My instagram and twitter were not safe from the cuteness that baby snakes are. And though it was shocking for some of you, I probably changed the opinion of one or another about snakes for the good.

If I got you interested in Tokyo Snake Center, you can check their website and location details HERE.
Let me know if you drop by and how you liked it!
